Chivas 25 Year
Awarded 95 points in the 2010 Whisky Bible, Jim Murray rated this his Scotch Blend of Year in the 18 years and over category. Chivas Regal 25 year old is a delicious blend, with notes of peach and almond.
Chivas Regal 25 was The World’s First Luxury Whisky, launched to America’s high society in New York in 1909 as the first whisky to be aged at least 25 years. In the 1920s during WW1 and prohibition, Chivas Regal 25 disappeared and became a highly coveted collector’s item. It wasn’t until 1950 that Chivas Regal returned as a 12-year-old whisky. In 2007 Master Blender Colin Scott, inspired by the original recipe, re-created Chivas Regal 25 to celebrate where the story began.
In 1909, Chivas Brothers made distilling history by creating the world’s first luxury Scotch whisky, Chivas Regal 25. Each of the hand-selected whiskies has been matured for a minimum of 25 years. Chivas 25 is bottled only twice a year, with each individually numbered.
The world’s first luxury whisky is an enticingly fruity blend. A smooth New York high society regular since 1909. This legendary whisky has seen it all: having survived not one, but two World Wars, outliving prohibition to be reborn a masterpiece, to be saluted and honored forevermore. Because blended is better, in life and in Scotch.
Rich, nutty, and thick with notes of malt and berry fruits, hints of licorice, raspberries, and sweet porridge oats.
Soft and gentle but it builds with an elegant toffee-like character, very butter. Hints of boiled sweets, aniseed, and custard.
Abrupt, but earthy, with butterscotch on the tail.
