The La Croix de Beaucaillou wines come from the Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou vineyard. Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou is named after the beautiful, stones found in its unique wine-growing terroir. This exceptional ecosystem produces fine, elegant, tasty wines, with a long finish – in short, archetypal Saint-Julien wines.
Produced from a plot specifically dedicated to it, Chateau La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou expresses the typicity of the great Günz gravel terroirs of Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou, an emblematic estate in the Saint-Julien appellation, on the left bank of Bordeaux.
The Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou 2018 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (62%), supplemented by Merlot (35%) and Petit Verdot (3%). The Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou 2018 is matured for 12 months in Bordeaux barrels of 225 liters, 60% of which are of new wood and 40% of one previous wine.
The La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou 2018 is a magnificent Saint-Julien from a dazzling vintage. The wine offers an intense aromatic palette, revealing notes of ripe black fruit, cherry and blackcurrant, fresh menthol notes, lavender, licorice and black spices, along with superb mineral notes of graphite and pencil lead.
Powerful and very concentrated, the palate shows off an immense structure with a voluptuous and silky texture. A great vintage of La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou with a great ageing potential.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 La Croix de Beaucaillou gives up aromas of cassis, earth, black plums, black cherries and mulberries with wafts of menthol, cigars and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is lively and earthy with firm, grainy tannins, finishing long and mineral-laced.
A mix of well-structured tannins and bright acidity contrast with the perfectly ripe fruits in this beautifully balanced wine. The wine’s richness is impressive and will ensure a long life.
