The 2015 Chateau Dauzac Aurore is a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon and 41% Merlot. It has a clean and pure bouquet of dark black cherries and sorbet fresh citrus fruit that are well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly grainy tannin, well-judged acidity and a structured, graphite-tinged finish. This is a very commendable deuxième vin.
Chateau Dauzac Aurore is located in Margaux and is ranked the 5th Growth from the 1855 Classification of Bordeaux. The Chateau is famous for its vineyard management, which includes the first successful use of the Bordeaux Mixture, as well as the introduction of vinification techniques like using ice to control the temperature of fermentation.
Today, Laurent Fortin continues the history of innovation that is a hallmark of the château. In 2013 the team created a second label, Aurore de Dauzac, as part of an inventive process to identify new terroirs in their vineyards. The wine comes from a careful selection of young vines on specific plots of gravel soils.
The vision, in collaboration with Stéphanie, is to produce an expression of a specific geology of the vineyard, while also providing an aromatically driven wine that retains and showcases the classic character of Margaux. Well, they did it, and at an incredible value too!
Deep, dense red.
The expression of red fruits is delicate and precise.
The attack is smooth and velvety. The mid-palate unfolds gradually, highlighting the quality of the precise tannins.
