Bodegas Juan Gil is a family owned winery, that dates back to 1916, it was the third generation, who managed to consolidate the winery with a reliable, efficient and good quality wines image that the present generation are trying to maintain and improve as much as possible.
The vineyards are located northwest of Jumilla, it consist of 350 Hectares own owned of which 120 hectares surround the winery and the rest are scattered in small parcels, always within the area called “Termino de Arriba” a perfect zone for wine growing, at an altitude between 700 – 850 meters above sea level and on sandy, chalky, rocky soil on the surface and very poor in nutrients.
Monastrell is the main variety grown, native to Jumilla and perfectly adapted to the climatic conditions in this area, which it is used in all the wines produced in the cellar.
Purple/black in colour, it proffers a nose of pain grille, graphite, earth notes, spice box, black fruits, and a hint of balsamic. It opens in the grlass to reveal excellent density, savory flavors, plenty of spice, and a lengthy, pure finis. It will evolve well for 2-3 years and drink well for many years.
Pair with rice, pasta, (noodles, spaghetti, macaroni), vegetables, mushroom, stewed meat, sausage, pork, roast meat, red and/or white meat with sauces, grilled meat, short or medium-cured cheeses.
Attractive and intense aromas of ripe black fruit, toasty and smoky nose. It a very modern, nicely matured with some very ripe almost creamy black fruits and some spicy flavours. Well integrated oak and ripe sweet tannins on the finish.
