Bird Dog 7 Year Old Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey
Kentucky- Bird Dog 7 Year Kentucky Straight Small Batch Bourbon is aged until the desired distinct and bold flavor profile is achieved, Bird Dog Small Batch Bourbon is a masterfully crafted premium-aged Kentucky bourbon with a mash bill that is comprised of corn, rye and malted barley.
Bird Dog’s Small Batch Bourbon contains a mash of corn, malted barley and rye. Bird Dog associates each of its bottlings with a different dog breed. This selection bears the image of the Treeing Walker Coonhound, a breed known for being fearless and courageous while hunting.
Bird Dog 7 Year old Whiskey is a product of Western Spirits, a company in Bowling Green, KY. Bird Dog specializes in a variety of flavored whiskeys like their award-winning blackberry, black cherry and honey-jalapeño expressions.
Quite a fruity, yet sweet experience, with a layer of oak on top of it. Think vanilla, combined with oranges, banana and a hint of apple. The palate is on the thinner side, but also fairly herbal with whispers of milk chocolate and orange. Overall, it has a very spicy profile. Decent stuff from Western Spirits.
The Bird Dog Whiskey brand is probably best known for their various flavored whiskeys, including jalapeño honey-flavored whiskey, chocolate-flavored whiskey, and (the apparently) award-winning blackberry-flavored whiskey. Not being a fan of flavored whiskey, and particularly not anything related to the unholy combination of jalapeño, honey and bourbon, the Bird Dog Small Batch is my first foray with the label. It should be noted, however, that Western Spirits includes a few other sourced bourbons in their portfolio, including Calumet Farm Bourbon Whiskey and Lexington Bourbon Whiskey.
