Aberlour A’Bunadh Cask Strength Scotch Whisky
Aberlour A’Bunadh Cask Strength have reached their 68th batch of their ever popular A’Bunadh! As always, this has been matured exclusively in Spanish Oloroso sherry butts, creating an intensely sherried expression which we think is utterly captivating. Bottled at cask strength, this batch notches up a hefty 61.5% ABV, for anyone looking to explore cask strength whiskies, look no further for a perfect introduction!
The Aberlour A’Bunadh Cask Strengthrange – small batch bottlings of oloroso-sherry aged single malt – continues with this 61st edition, which as usual offers tasty notes of dried fruit, sherry, dark chocolate and spice.
Aberlour Distillery was founded in 1879 by James Flemming and this sherry matured single malt is made in homage to him. The name A’Bunadh [a-BOON-arh] means “original” in Gaelic and the single malt was designed as a replica to a whisky produced at this distillery in the late 1800s. A’Bunadh is matured exclusively in Spanish oloroso sherry casks and it’s bottled at cask strength.
A sumptuous powerhouse of a whisky, it opens with seductive oloroso sherry notes before revealing notes of pepper, dark fruit, and ginger snaps with hints of wood soap on the finish. Manages to be decadent and lively at once.
With each batch carefully made by hand, Aberlour A’bunadh is a unique cask strength whisky that has achieved cult status among whisky connoisseurs.
Meaning ‘the original’ in Gaelic, A’bunadh is made in homage to Aberlour’s founder, James Fleming, using only traditional methods without chill filtration or other modern processes.
